Richard Dyer- Star Persona

Pop performer and pop stars have become interchangeable.

Pop stars have an identity or persona which is not restricted solely to their music.

A true pop star has a lasting significance and has brand awareness amongst a wider audience.

A stars image is something that is recognised that is used in many media forms. This means that they can use the fact that their image to use it for other media forms for example advertising.

A star is an image not a real person that is constructed (as any other aspect of fiction is) out of a range.

A stars persona constantly changes so that the audience will stay interested. An example of this is Chris Brown and Madonna.

Stars are created to appeal to the audiences which in turn revenue money for the record companies. The record company design their star how they want them to be.

They try to create them how the audience want them to be. For example boy bands.

He said “ stars are like commodities produced and consumed on the strength of there meaning”.

Stars will represent a certain ideology through there style and music.

Stars provide audiences with a focus for idea’s of what people are suppose to be like for example woman are suppose to be thin.
