Conventions of music video
Different genres of music have different conventions which you can identify easily because they tend to happen in all the music videos of that genre. Depending on what genre it is depends on what conventions there are.
An example would be : The killers- When you were young
Ø Editing is always the same beat as the song
Ø Tend to be black and white
Ø The artist/band are shown throughout the song
Ø Use of extreme close up and long shots are popular
Ø Dark locations
Ø Fast paced
Ø Some use of special effects
Ø Tend to use instruments like drums and guitars
